manic behavior

Hi, I'm new to this group. My dad has been diagnosed with amnestic dementia by his neurologist. lately, my mom tells me he has mornings when he's tired and not in the mood to do anything and a few hours later he's energized, and calls people one after another who he would not normally call (old friends, relatives, etc)and chats for some time. My mother thinks this is great (compared to the lethargy in the a.m.) but I see it as somewhat manic. Does anyone else have this experience with a dementia patient? to complicate matters, they live in Fla and I'm in NY, so I have not seen this behavior firsthand and don't know what to make of it. Thanks for any input!!

" I'm not familiar with this type of dementia, but do know many that have the cycling clarity issues. Has he had blood pressure checked closely (going from sitting to standing position) and does he have a good neurologist and geriatric physician?

Many start to sundown or go from clear to confused during different times of day, normally at night, but I know some that do this during the day. I will see if I can find anything on this type of dementia that might help too.

Welcome to a great group of caring people and know you are not alone. "
