I don't know what to do. My husband has decided to go on a road trip. He refuses to let me drive and his Dr. (actually 3 of his doctors) have told him very plainly that he is not to drive but just around home. About 6 weeks ago he got on the Execelon patch and it has worked very well. Up to the point where he is thinking ahead now, planning things, thinking up things to do. That is a WONDERFUL improvement BUT he wants to go on this trip. I tried to explain to him why not to go, I can't go with him because I have to work.
So now he has packed his bag, taken my car and has driven 500 miles away to visit his Dad. By the way his family have all encouraged him to do this. I was so afraid he would have an accident I was in tears. And he has to drive back home. This is a 10 hr trip one way! His doctor said that if he continued to drive he would have to call the state and have his license revolked. I don't want to have to do that especially since he is doing so well with this new medication. What should I do? Posted on 06/23/09, 09:06 am |

Well, he made it home at midnight last night. He drove over 1500 miles. He's exhausted and I am too. I can rest now that he is home & safe.

If his doctors feel he is incompetent to drive, why do they say he can drive around home? Either the doctors are wrong or else they are trying to be kind. But if your husband is incompetent to drive, I don't want to be on the same road as he is on. I can see it now: "Your Honor, this man is innocent of killing the occupants of the car because he is incompetent."
