" I know how you feel, my husband was combative also. In fact they warned me that if he doesn't calm down , some other measures have to be taken. They gave him low dose Seraquel twice a day. Later it was changed to once a day. Thank goodness it worked. Have they tried that? He might need a stronger dose. If they have to resort to sedatives, that might be the only way, remember he is suffering terribly. "

" Ask them what medication they are giving him. We tried my mother on an ant depressant and she went off the wall, it was awful. We took her off them and she is fine. It could be the result of his medications. "

" Try a small dose of Lithium. We tried everything else including Seroquel, Risperdol, Depakote... You do have to watch for kidney function changes through periodic blood tests if you're on Lithium.

You might also try giving small doses (.125mg) of Xanax during the times of day he is getting the most angry. It won't sedate him but calm him down. I know your challenge....we got kicked out of every facility due to my father's agitation. "

" My husband has been mean and angry and he is at home. He is now taking 300mg of Seroquel. It is the only thing that seems to help him. I FINALLY got my husband to go to a mental health hospital. He is now seeing a very good psychiatrist, who thinks he should be taking the 400mg of Seroquel. We go back in 2 weeks, and we will discuss all his recent tests and about increasing it to 400mg, hugs Samirish "
