Anyone got any hints for making sure that the prescription tablets get inside my husband rather than being stuck to his socks or inside his shirt or down the side of the chair. He seems to be able to swallow anything else quite easily and is o.k. about taking the meds. Thank you.

two words, Ice Cream. We put my dads meds in ice cream. But when he caught on, we ground them up. Hope this helps.

Well if he is willing to take the meds, hand them to him one by one and watch him swallow. If I leave it up to my Mom to do this by herself more ends up on the floor than in her mouth. If he won't take them when given, them I agree with brasrail and grind them up but be sure to check with the pharmacist first.
Good luck

Is he having trouble swallowing them? If so, a speech therapist may be able to help with ways to assist with this. I've seen them do wonders to help with swallowing issues.
Short term memory is a tricky thing too, there are times I've seen my Dad midstream doing a task and forget the next step. So I always make sure I watch him swallow the pills, give him extra water or juice after them, then a little something to eat, soft cookie, ice cream anything to keep things heading in the right direction. I've seen some success with grinding pills in ice cream or applesauce, but you do need to check with doctor or pharmacist as some meds should not be ground if they are time released or for other reasons. Good luck and keep us informed on how it goes!
