Knee Surgery delayed due to a DVT.

Last October I was in the middle of doing paperwork for Orthoscopic surgery for a torn miniscus. However, I fell and tore a calf muscle. While doing physical theraoy for the tear my therapist masaged my swollen leg and dislodged a DVT to my lungs and left me with a massive PE (pulminary embolism).

I am recovering on Couamdin and compression stockings. In the mean time my orthapedist won't touch me till I am off the coumadin. So, in addition to pain from the DVT and the torn minisucs I was also diagnosed with
bone on bone arthritis. The only solution for that is knee replacement. But they say I am too young for that (45). So, I am left with massive knee pain and no treatment. Has anyone else been in this terrible situation?

" I agree. the pain is so strong now. I have an offloader brace but I worry about it being too tight and putting pressure on my DVT> I worry about it causing another pulminary embolism. But without the brace walking is very painful. "

" Ask about Synvisc for your knee. It's like WD40 for the knees. I too am trying to put off knee replacement because I am too young. I had the injections in January. It was like giving me a new knee. Well, much much better anyway. It is just now starting to give me pain. The injections last 6 months. I am hoping to last a while longer using these injections. Ask about Synvisc with your Dr. "

" I also have osteoarthritis on both of my knees. I am now in a wheel chair and I'm only 26 years old. I finally convinced my Doctor to give me surgery so i am now waiting on a surgery date. I was also told i was to young but i cant live my life this way and i put my foot down and he (the orthopedic) gave in. "
