" I have dealt with degererative joint disease for ages (or so it seems). My advice is to keep moving. The pain and stiffness is much worse when you are at rest. I have had 2 scope surgeries on my right knee. I've also had my right shoulder done. Cortizone shots help tremendously. Find yourself a good rhuematologist.

Good luck,
Donna "

" The best thing to do is try some FISH oil-it helps me! Put pressure on your docs-remind them they work for you! TALK-to your therapist about the stress-you should do your best NOT to let the stress get to you!!! Finally pain-ignore as much as you can-get up and move!! GOOD LUCK!! "

" Dadwithdjd

I've been dealing with the pain from degenerative disc and joint disease for several years. I have felt as though I've been slowly dying. The strain that continuous, chronic pain puts us through wears us down. Until this happened to me, I did not fully understand the effect chronic pain can have on a person.

I have seen MANY doctors until I found one who finally nailed the symptoms to a cause. My doctor is a rheumatologist and has worked with me with medications until we found something which is relieving the constant pain.

MY BEST ADVISE TO YOU IS THIS:

Find a doctor who does not quit. You should feel like you have been thoroughly cared for.

Be active and assertive in your medical care. Never quit.

Exercise gently on your better days.

Eat a well balanced diet.

Get plenty of sleep.

And last but not least,
Reach out to others.

Gentle hugs and best wishes for good days,

Drasan "

" Keep moving, like others have said. Take whatever pain medications you use before moving. As you loosen your body, the pain will lessen somewhat.

I don't go to doctors anymore because there's nothing they can do. My orthopedic surgeon sends me to physical therapy (which I can do at home) or wants to operate (no way!). So I search for answers online and do what I can to continue my life at a lower activity level. Luckily I'm retired with no obligations. "
