I don't think you really can tell, becasue pain is such a subjective thing. Call your doctor. You may need an x-ray.

I had burning pain like this before I was hospitalized for pain control...I had turned while lifting something light and it felt like someone poured icy hot down my spine...legs, etc...I even wet myself a bit...You may of ruptured a disc or it could just be something pressing on the spine it was the latter in my case...good luck/ gentle hugs/

Usually when I feel burning the problem is coming from the muscles. This may or may not be the case for you. You sound miserable. I am so sorry you are feeling so bad and I hope you start feeling better.

Its the sciatica nerve is being pinched from the swelling at the point of the nerve in your back. I have it constantly and my leg will go completely numb. A hot shower or jacuzzi or bath if you can get in. Have someone massage down your leg to circulate blood flow because it helps the nerve relax. And ask for a tens unit

it is the muscles in your back you need to get on a muscle relaxer! They work harder when you have DDD and they are stretched out ! Atleast that is what I was told!! My back burns also nothing really helps me though they tried flexrill but I had an allergy to it so I don't take any relaxers now! Good luck to you !! Hope you find relief!!
