" Hi, Maybe you should have a thoracic MRI. Usually when you have degeneration in one area, it happens in other areas. I hope you feel better. Take care, Mary Anne "

" Yes, Degenerative Disc Disease is Degenerative meaning A degenerative disease is a disease in which the function or structure of the affected tissues or organs will progressively deteriorate over time. I was on percocet as well and it stopped working...I worked with my pain management doc to find something that would work for me. I was scared to go on to something stronger but am now on MS Contin (morphine Sulfate) and am fairly comfortable....this is not to say I am pain free but I am not on the floor crying in pain for the time being. You should get in to a PM doc if you can...their whole job is to manage your pain and to make you comfortable...percs and other opoids stop working after awhile..what dosage are you on? You may just need to go up in dose..or take it with acetaminophen if it's not already in there. "

" My DDD of 16 years has not gotten worse but I do notice it leaves me at times more vulnerable to neck pain and pain in other areas of my spinal cord....When I chose to not have surgery and sought treatment with a Physiatrist and Doctors of Osteopath, I was made aware this could happen.

At 45 years old, I understand as I age my disc will further loose its elasticity/space but it does not always mean my condition will get worse. My Doctors told me the pain I experience from the condition could/will paralyze me. "

" yes DDD is progressive and will get worse with time. sounds like you need to get a really good pain management dr that will try different things and meds to find what works best for you, After taking meds you will start to build up a tolerance to them so you will get increases or med changes depending on your need for them. alot of people are scared of taking the meds, but if you can find something that gives you relief and allows you to function better then by all means do it without fear or regret. I hope you are able to find something that will help you obtain better relief. "
