My blood work came back and my PTT and dRVVT results are off the chart. But my INR results are 2.8, is the INR result within a good range? I am not on any medications going to see a blood specialist. But scared just hoping someone can help with some questions until I can get in to see doctor.

" The therapeutic target range for INR post DVT/PE is 2.0-3.0 so you are within that range.

In your area, the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has thrombosis (blood clot) and thrombophilia (blood clot disorder) experts within their Hematology Department.

Tom in Connecticut "

" You mention that you are not on any medications. If you are not on warfarin(coumadin), a normal INR should fall between 0.8 and 1.2. Since INR is calculated based on PTT, an elevated PTT means an elevated INR.

You and doctor will want to figure out why your PTT is high. Hope you can get the right treatment and get healthy soon! "

" Chris,

Interesting point about not being on meds (guess I missed that). However, INR testing is not performed unless you are on Coumadin/Warfarin. It's whole purpose is to monitor the effectiveness of blood thinning drugs.

The DRWT test is diluted Russell Viper Venon Time test which checks Lupus Anticoagulant levels. Here is some great information regarding the testing. Please note it is written as a peer article for physicians:
