SEX AND DVT

HI all,
I know this can be a bit personal but I need to ask this question. I have dvt the full lengh of my leg right up to the groin and pelvis.
I was diagnosed September gone.
Usually my husband and I have a very active sex life, but since Ive had the DVT I have been frightened to have sex with him just incase the clot breaks off.
I still have a lot of pain and swelling and can only move my leg a little, I can only bend my leg a little and have not been able to straighten it either. I also have a broken foot which is unprotected because of my swelling.

Is there any one who has had similar problems and fear, Please feel free to reply.
Maggie

" Hey Maggie, just read your discussion topic after I had already repied. My doctor told me that normally if the clot is going to break off and go to the heart or lung, it will do it in the early stage. Has your doctor discussed that with you? If not, I would call him and ask, not even wait until you go to see him. Take care. "

" Well that sucks Maggie, seems like your doc should know one way or the other. Just out of curiousity, were you on the birth control pill when you had the clot? "

" Yes Donna,
It sure does suck, surely you would thing a consultant wouldn't be shy and just tell me straight, instead of mumbling at most of my questions.
Since I was discharged I have had no support other than being passed on to a Warfarin clinic.
Thats why I searched for a support group to help me.
So I thank god for people like yourself, to be honest I dont know what I would have done if I had,nt found Daily Strenth.

Donna I did used to be on the birth pill but came off it about 14 years ago, so no I wasn't.
Why was you?

" My clot ran from my popetil vien all the way up into my iliac vien ( groin) and one of the first things I was told was NO SEXUAL INTERCOURSE! while of course that scared my hubby and myself enough to "hold off" for a couple of months for fear of the same thing, clot breaking off in my groin area. So although we did hold off on the intercourse, we still enjoyed each other in "other ways" til I felt more comfortable resuming intercourse and until we got the O.K. from the doc. Hope this helps "
