How are they related? Does one cause the other, or are they 2 different conditions?

I have been told I have VS, but I've never had a clot, or known about it. I'm having weight loss surgery soon and the doctors say it will go away with significant weight loss.

I don't have pain except for an occasional cramp, usually in my foot. I have numb feet and terrible swelling of my ankles with a red/purple blistery rash which I dare not scratch at. My toenails are deformed and die. On some toes I have several different nails at different stages of growth, going at the same time. When my toes are cold, they turn purple.

So am I on the right board? And does anyone know if it's true that this will go away when I lose weight?

" Venous Stasis is the loss of proper function of the veins that carry blood back to the heart. This is usually following some kind of trauma or injury and slows the flow of blood in the veins.

Whenever the flow of blood in a vein is slowed down, it can result in the formation blood clot, either superficial or Deep Vein. DVT is a blood clot or venous thromboembolism.

Usually when a doctor talks about venous stasis it is in reference to venous stasis dermatitus or ulcers. When Venous Stasis Syndrome is discussed, it is in reference to Post Thrombotic Syndrome (PTS): see http://www.fvleiden.org/ask/82.html
