DVT without swelling?

Hi,
I had a PE in May but they never found evidence of the DVT that caused it. I never had any swelling and I can't specifically recall any pain in my legs or anything. They also did a doppler on my legs and found nothing. Now I've been on warfarin since then but my INR has never stabilized. Last week I was 1.79. I've been having an achy feeling behind my right knee that's pretty persistant. It's not extremely painful, just a dull ache. And as I said, no swelling. I called my doctor and can't get an appointment until Monday. Has anyone had a DVT with this kind of symptom?

" My doctor once suggested to my sister that if you can stand on your tippy toes without that pain then you probably don't have a dvt, but I don't know how correct this is. But definitely worth seeing a doctor about. If you're absolutely concerned go to the ER. I didn't suffer any swelling with my second DVT so don't let the lack of swelling fool you. Good luck :) "

" Wish I could offer help, but I can't. Try not to worry so much. I know that is a hard thing because I got depressed when my DVT happened. I lost 6 pounds right off the bat too. "

" My first DVT was in my leg and I had some swelling, redness and it REALLY hurt. My second DVT was in my arm. I had no swelling in my arm, or redness. Just some pulling pain. Symptoms aren't always classic, so if you're concerned, get it checked out.

JennyMay, I think that's actually a true test. "

" I walked around with gradually increasing pain in my leg for about a week before it swelled up overnight. The pain was pretty intense by the time it swelled up and it was really the swelling that drove me to the doctor. I thought mine was a sciatic nerve. I thought, "heck, nobody dies from a sciatic nerve." I didn't believe my doctor when he told me it was a DVT. "
