steroid shots & Lovenox during pregnancy

My daughter has Protein C deficieny and she is pregnant. She just completed a 4 shot session of steroid shots to help the baby's lungs develop. She has been feeling a little dizzy, feels a little short of breath, and has been complaining that she can feel her heart beating in her head. The way she is explaining them I half think that she is having small anxiety attacks. This is a lot of stress for any person to go through, but this is her first pregnancy and she is only 18 years old. I know that a few of you have had to be on Lovenox while pregnant. Did you have to do the steroid shots and deliver early also? Are these normal side effects?

" Steroids are exactly what I meant when I said Coumadin is relatively non-problematic for me. I have fairly bad asthma and receive steroid shots and oral prednisone several times a year (including during pregnancy). They give me pounding headaches, an increased heartbeat, insomnia, mania (I can go at high speed with 8 hours of sleep over a 3 day period), weight gain and swelling, and nasty muscle aches and pains. I also bruise easily while on steroids, so make sure she is careful as the Lovenox also increases bruising.

From what I remember about their use during pregnancy, they are used if an early delivery is necessary or premature labor has begun, to strengthen the baby's lungs. The side effects go away after treatment is completed (muscle aches last a few extra days), but the benefit to the baby (or an asthmatic) may help to encourage her mentally. Good luck to her! I feel for her! "
