Here I am again. I am new to this group and have a very unsupportive, missing doctor so I am glad that I found this group. I almost did not join, but I am glad I did because everyone here has a lot of good advice...and we all know what the others have been through! So thanks.
Anyway, I had what was said to be a "smaller" blood clot in my left calf in August of this year. I was in the hospital for two days on Heprin and then on Lovenox for 10 days, and now taking coumadin, with steady levels. After I got home I end up back in the hospital with a PE and the ultrasound showed that there was no longer any signs of the blood clot, so I'm cleared from that I guess, but my leg was swollen from what they said was phlebitis. This was the middle of August. My doctor rarely checks my INR, I had it done the first week every day, then every two weeks now every 4-6 weeks. So today will be the 2nd time after the everyday stint I have had it done...which to me seems odd... But anyway, (I'm obviously a little long winded, but after I'm not so new here I won't have to give you all the background info) the real reason I am writing is because my left leg continues to fall asleep easily and twitches all the time in the same area where the clot was. I had an ultra sound done in the hospital with the PE so there was no clot and my INR was thereputic what 6 weeks ago...I was just wondering if this is normal. I was also wondering just for my knowledge the general age of everyone in here because my doctor keeps telling me how concerned he is because of my age, but from the looks of everyone's picutre, everyone else seems to be pretty young too..... My first DVT diagnosis last year was an unwelcome late 50th birthday present and I will be 51 in a few weeks time.
Funnily enough I have had a recent spell of leg twiching on my DVT leg but I have had this on and off in previous years on both legs so I don't consider it a DVT related issue.

I am 34 with DVT in my right shoulder and bicep. I get the twitches in my right forearm, no where near the DVT site but it is odd I get them in the same arm as the blockage.
Not really advice i know but i would hope that an expert is watching these sites and collating all this data for the future!

its not that odd actually :)
twitching is caused by lack of blood flow so it would make complete sense for it to be else where

I'm a 28 yr old male. Had blood clot in left leg from hip to ankle while recovering from an infection after being bitten by a tick (also had PEs in both lungs).
I get the fluttering in my calf where I still have remaining clot (they removed the clot in my thigh. As far as your doctor is concerned, if you have no confidence in him now, you're never going to have confidence in him regarding any other care you receive. I'm not a fan of changing doctors on a whim, but if you're not comfortable, find a doctor that you do trust. You only get one life, and complications from mistreated and or misdiagnosed DVTs (read: PEs) are fatal, life ending, deadly, whatever word you want to describe six feet under in a dark, cold box, etc. There's no excuse for your doctor taking this situation lightly, and even if he is taking it seriously, but you're not comfortable, just move on.

I get achiness in my leg and knee. I had dvt and pe in august this year. Oh I have same bday 18th! Anyway I force myself to exercise on eliptical and lift some weights. I will share what I do for my phlebitis but don't copy!!! It's experimental and I'm crazy. I take arginine/ornithine, lumbrokinase, nattokinase (real from korean source), lots of omega 3, Ginger fresh in tea, black, green and herbal teas (not at same time as warfarin dose), tumeruc, dhea, coq10,a multivitamin, a broad antioxidant (solgar I think) with alot of berry stuff, etc., and I water down Gatorade and drink that, pure lowest sugar dark chocolate, fresh fruit from my pomegranate, orange, honeybell tangelo trees, bananas, lots of walnuts, sunflower seeds, brown rice, etc. I think the combination of antiplatelet type if nutrients along with the anticlotting strategy with warfarin is effective. Again, please noone do what I do! I probably won't live too long! I'm very intuitive and I have no idea but I do know so far my symptoms are improved somewhat. I get little to no swelling now. I have less aching in my leg, knee, and foot where I had it big time just recently. I keep hydrated but not necessarily by just drinking liquids. I only drink when I feel my body is craving water. I bloat easily so it worsen symptoms if I drink all day, so I drink liquds strategically, oh I also take alot 2gms of vit C/day. Oh also I try to eat a good deal of beans of all kinds. I believe the key to recovery is giving your body what it needs to build back health, especially endothelia health-inside/linings of your arteries and veins. It often us contrary to medical established advice that's why please don't follow me. Please don't do it. Talk to your doctor. Do what your doctor tells you to do!!

Yep I get the leg twitches too - but I find it more embarrasing than worrying.
Last week I was watching a performance of 12th Night by the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon. Treat for my daughter who wants to read English at University. After the interval it started: I was so afraid that I would touch the man sitting next to me, and that he'd think I was some kind of pervert. It was purgatory. Thankfully the production was so good it was the focus of everyone's attention. Felt like I was in some kind of nightmare sitcom
