Is the flu shot stil advised while on coumadin? What about while clots are present? I plan on asking my doctor next week, just curious what others are hearing.
There was some discussions about it last year in the message boards, but nothing definitive. Posted on 09/17/09, 09:09 pm |

New but will respond if I can help. My PCP was not sure BUT I have not had a flu shot in 10 years.. so no need to start now. I do NOT get many vaccinations. ( issues not pertaining to this DVT thread)
I have not had flu in years. Roger

Last year, I had the flu shot and the year before, I had a pneumonia shot, both while on warfarin. When I had the pneumonia shot, my DVT was still present. I take immunosuppressent drugs for another health issue so I get the shots because I tend to get sick easier.

I had a DVT about a month ago and am now on Coumadin. I had a pheumonia vaccine while still in the hospital and a flu shot last week with no problem.
