i am pro vaccination but i note. jo got the MMR vaccine and got german measles she had the chickenpox vaccine and got chicken pox she has had the antibiotic for swine flu as a precaution afetr exposure and i will be getting the vaccine to be "safe" i will however not be getting the menigacoccle(sp) vaccine as i am sure if she was to get that she would surly not survive it. i am pro because i think the desiese in full is worse than what you get from the vaccine also i would hate for my child to catch something unbenowingly a in the incubation period pass it on to other kids... one other thing i keep up with her vaccines of normal "compusory" doses because if i missed them and she was to get mumps or rebella as a teen and become sterile or get them whilst pregnant and loose the baby it would be heart breaking same with the polio vaccine i couldn't imagin her being a twisted mess in our day and age it shouldn't happen but when people miss the vaccine it sometimes happens.. this is just my opinion i am not saying you should vaccinate i am just saying i do even with troubles with them.. oh and my son has had all his vaccinations as i don't want him bringing something home to jo and making her sick and he has had no complications on any of his doses he hasn't even got the post flu jab cold.. thanks for reading my poor grammar and spelling

Thanks for the advice Cooper has had the flu shot for the past 2 years and he doent have any side effects from it either. Hopefully thats a good sign

hi my name is chrissy and my daughter shayla has cf she is 15 she was diagnosed at 6 she has never had a flu shot.(she has gotten sick but not bad i guess we have been lucky) but now iam worried iam confused on what to do there are so many different things to think about.you hear of some doctors and nurses not getting it done (my sister in laws doctor who is conferming cases all the time is not getting it done and niether are his wife and 5 children)but he dosnt have a child with a cronic illness. he says ther are good reasons to get it done and alot of reasons not to. so what do you do. we are getting out of the hospital tomorrow and the doctors here recomend it but then they dont have any straight answers for me of how effective it is or what kind of side effects it has,why people are so worried. there answer is it hasnt been around long enough its all new. so iam realy cofused on what to do. i would hate for anything bad to happen to my baby . either way. thanks for listening and if any one has any advise that would be grate. chrissy

Patrice just got her swine shot and did fine. She has always had the flu shots and Thank God has never had the flu.

Hey thanks for the advice everyone. Cooper got the first of two shots about two weeks ago and did fine. We get the second at the end of november. I was told by the nurse at the cf clinic that it takes two weeks after the second shot ( in younger children) to build up "full immunity" well see. We also heard that they are expecting a second wave of the swine flu in spring. That pushed us along to get it because we have been avoiding people and places and I know I cant keep him from getting it untill after spring!!! Thanks again

My sister has a 1yr old (no CF) and their ped. is NOT reccomending the swine flu vaccination cause of some preservative in it. But Rich's CF dr wants him to get it, because they're considered high risk.... good luck
