Gallbladder

I was wondering if anyone with CF out there has had their gallbladder removed? In CF I know it is common to have extremely small, barely used gallbladders, thick bile, and therefore, gall stones. My gastro doc is running more tests but is considering removing my gallbladder. He tells me I shouldn't hardly notice it is gone since it is contracted, so small, and I don't appear to be using it in the path of bile (for example, my body has bi-passed the clogged organ already). Has anyone had this done? Have you experienced side effects?
