Cystic Fibrosis Support Group

Hello,

My name is MacKenzie and I am writing on this forum because I want to get my sisters story out there so we can save her life. Both of my sisters were born with Cystic Fibrosis... when my eldest sister Lindsey reached 15 she was told she needed a double lung transplant or she wouldn't survive, my parents donated each a lobe of their lung to her and it was a successful operation. 4 years later Ashley turned 15 and was told also that she would need a double lung transplant or she would not survive...everyone in my family got tested and my aunts were a perfect match to donate. Her operation was also a success. Because of all the rejection medicines they were one after their transplants... Ashleys kidneys failed when she was 18...and was told she needed a kidney transplant... again my wonderful family all got tested and my aunt was a correct match and donated...a year down the road Lindsey's kidneys did the same and again one of my aunts donated. After this long ordeal everything seemed to be going well, both sisters were healthy and active. Unfortunately due to an infection Ashleys lungs..15 years later... have rejected. At 25 she is in need of her second double lung transplant... she is on oxygen 24/7 and it is devestating seeing her struggle. I will do anything to make sure she gets a new pair of lungs..she is my bestfriend and sister.
