Bestie with CF in Hospital :(

My best friend and I....no no, that's not right. Best friend does not even cover what she means to me. We have been friends for over 10 years now and I have watched her suffer through CF and all it brings. She has been in the hospital before and it was almost like a tune up. I know the human body cannot be compared to a car but that is the best way I can describe it. But she gets a cold, it gets bad, she goes in and she comes out a week or so later and she is better. This time is different. As a matter of fact it has been different for a while. We are 27 now and she is very strong, but she doesn't seem to be getting better. Just maintaining a level of functionable sick. I knew from the start I would have to face her mortality and realize that it will get worse and ultimately be her demise but I have been in this state of denial or something thinking that when she got bad the doctors would come up with something to keep her going just a little longer and a little longer until a cure was found.

Are they even on the edge of a break through? Is there hope? Should I prepare myself? I don't know what I would do without her. I can't go on without her. Please someone ease my fears.

" Well I am not aware of any kind of major break through but they are coming up with new stuff all the time and the life expectancy is higher than it was even just a few years ago. I am 28 and have cf and have pretty much lost all my hope but you and any other friends you two may have giving there all in support is the best thing you can do. Following through with meds and airway clearance and keeping active is incredibly important. I am incredibly stubborn and forget full so if shes anything like that stick on her about what she needs to do constantly and encourage, just don't over burden her. "
