Hey guys, just saw my endo and was very surprised by some of the resutls. My blood work is normal and the tumor on my pituitary gland is GONE. I thought this was very strange since i`ve been dealing with it for almost 4 years.
My dr says that maybe it was pseudo-cushings, caused by depression. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am just blown away that the tumor was gone...I still can`t belive it....it`s a great thing....wonderful news....I guess i`m just surprised I could have all the symptoms but not?! Yeah, I've heard of it... not sure if I believe it lol. Seems like an "easy out" for dr's who can't find the tumor, if you ask me. On the other hand, I think that If I do have cushings, it might be pseudo. I've suffered with major depression since I was around age 12. But then you get into the situation.... which came first, the chicken or the egg??? (the depression or the cushings??)

I can understand being puzzled about the results. It is great that the tumor has gone, that is sucha relief I am sure.
A lot of people have symptoms of diseases but it can take a long time for them to show up to Dr's satisfaction. be glad that the tumor has gone & enjoy life.

Firstly, did you have MRI or CT scan that showed a visible tumour? If so, then I don't see how it can disappear?? Psuedo cushings is a very real thing. It's still an over production of cortisol but is not true cushings. As far as I know it can be caused by depression/stress increasing cortisol or it can be alcohol induced, you display many of the symptoms of cushings but don't in fact have cushings disease/syndrome. The "cure" for psuedo cushings is treating the cause. Once that's done then the symptoms will go. I can't understand why they've told you you had a tumour and now it's gone, all by itself. I'm don't mean to sound patronising or rude but it's just not logical to me. I thought I had psuedo too (until I was eventually diagnosed with having a pituitary tumour) and what I've read about it is that with psuedo you display all or a lot of the symptoms but you don't actually have cushings. It's not a fantasy illness though, it is very real.

Diane,
I did have MRI`s done, 2 of them, and they both showe I had a tumor. The last one showed that the tumor is gone. I`ve been followed for cushings for 4 years. All my levels are back to normal, and my doc believes it`s because i`m no longer depressed. I was seriously depressed before. Since my levels are normal, and the tumor is gone, I have stopped worrying. Thanks for your concern :)
