I've been on various doses of Prednisone since April '09 (40 mg - 5 mg) and I'm now on 6MP (100 mg) also. My current dose of Prednisone is 5 mg and hopefully will be off of that completely in 7 days.
I have recently experienced swelling in my face and now my eyes especially in the morning and have also noticed swelling in my ankles and lower legs. Is this the Prednisone or the 6MP? Not sure if it could still be the the Prednisone since I'm on such a small dose now. ?? Posted on 11/04/09, 08:11 am |

I don't know about 6MP but when I was on pred in the early days I remember I woke up one morning with a face that literally looked like a boxer's after a big loss!!
We rang the doc in a panic it was so bad. I get swollen ankles on it too.

Sorry, also meant to say it's worse when you're changing doses, however low or high.

hi , i notice a moon face ,,,,,,rounded ,,,,,,,,,when on pred .
also had swelling in ankles when on it . will be off my 5mg on sunday . im then being put on another tablet .......that i take everyday. this is to advoid more steroids!. it takes a while 4 the swelling to go ......but it does . i wish u all the best.

I was on only 5 mg for many years and yes you still get the swelling. I have been off it now for 3 months and am just barley starting to get my normal face back. My hugs and prayers to you.
