" I'm using Ensure at the moment. It's lactose and gluten free. My dr warned me that it does have a fair amount of fat in it so it can put on weight, but I figure it's the only thing I can keep down at the moment so I'm not going to fade away! I only use the vanilla flavour. I buy it in a big tin of powder at the pharmacy. So far so good... "

" Although those grocer smoothies maybe tastey, the added sugar outweighs any healthy benefit. I only use VANILLA ENSURE....there are two kinds, PLUS, which indeed has more fat and is intended for maintaining weight, and regular. Both kinds also come in a powder mix or liquid and neither are cheap.
I have invested in a very good juicer and mix some of the pulverized pulp into the juice. many books are avail. at local library on Juicing For Health....another way is PLAIN yogart, using a blender, adding blueberries, goji berries, and high fiber cereal...it pays for itself rather fast. "

" Vanilla flavored Ensure was it for me too... I am very lactose intolerant and couldn't handle much else & I liked the fact they had optional choices like: High protein, high fiber included. Also using Silk and mixing your own blend of friuts does a body good! Veggie drinks are great if you find a combination you like...Carrots juiced are very good nutritionally - invest in a good juicer and you'll be sure to find your own best drink mix. Just lay off the sugar- nobody needs it. "

" Boost or Ensure have different flavors and they are lactose free. Also try the Lactaid milk at your local grocery store. I use it in cooking, baking, in my cereal or just drinking a glass. My husband is also lactose intolerant and loves it. "

" I also use the lactaid milk and I don't think it tastes any different from regular milk. I don't drink milk, I only use it for cooking. Many years ago I used to use Ensure or Boost but I still did have problems with gas even though it was lactose free. The bummer is its not covered by insurance and it is very expensive. I have a friend who suffers from very bad Cronic Diarrhea and she could definitely benefit from Ensure but she is on SSI and can't afford it. She has had many medical tests and they still can't figure out her problem. She will have diarhhea for 4-5 days straight and then not go at all for 4-5 days. She has been going through this for a little over a year. I don't know how she deals with it. Has anyone out there heard of this or had something like this? "
