Deciding on Surgery

I have FINALLY decided I'm doing it! I have been in a flare for 2 years and have exhausted all pharmaceutical treatments. Spent many thousands of dollars....I sort of wish I decided this a long time ago but I am looking forward to being free of UC once and for all very soon.
Anyways...I wanted to pass along a link to a You Tube Guru I discovered a while back. His name is Dennis and he has bravely and candidly documented his journey with UC and his progress of getting the J Pouch surgery.

DON'T SAY CURED!!!!

How many more times can I say it Indi?
Answer two simple questions. One word answers will do. Have the grace to answer them.

How long have you had UC?
How long have you been on the diet?

Enough said. "

" I have had Crohns Disease for way over 20 years and had an illeostomy 4 years ago. My large intestine was not involved for many years then all of a sudden it went to hell. At least with UC getting the surgery is really like a cure, with Crohns it is not. I suffered tremendous pain for over 2 years and I did not have a choice to have the surgery. My colon and rectum were shot. My quality of life has been so much better without my colon. It was hard to deal with for the first year but I found people online that offered me support. Once I got used to the fact that I just had to wear my clothes a little different I was much better off. I think you will find that surgery works for you, especially if you have suffered the pain that I once had. "
