Since Oct. 25 I have been having vomitting and diarrhea off and on and 1 week ago had to go to the ER from 12:30 a. m. to 3:00 p.m. to get my Electrolytes back in balance and get rehydrated again from 2 days of not keeping any liquids or solids down. They took blood, urine, and stool samples from me and X-rayed my guts and found nothing wrong and no bowel blockages either! It seems to hit me on weekends and last for 3 days or so and I am so frustrated as it came back today with vomitting unless, I stick to the "Ensure" nutritional supplement!!!!!
I am so disgusted and am so frustrated!!!!! I got a referral from my Doc to go back to the Gastroenterologist who diagnosed me in 2004, on Oct. 27th, & I am nervous as the ER Doc told me people with Crohns Colitis are susceptible to colon Cancer and should have a Colonoscopy every 2 years! YUCK!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! Posted on 10/18/09, 09:10 pm |

Goodness me, what a nightmare. Try to calm down, I'm sure your symptoms are all part of your IBD. The tests you had in the ER were not able to tell if you are blocked really, you need a colonoscopy, endoscopy, some kind of barium scan or an MRI to really know.
When did you last see your GI? You should be seeing him/her as soon as these kinds of symptoms start to occur. If it were me, I'd be staying on a bowel ward having some thorough investigations and getting some proper nutrition (either through a feeding tube or TPN line). Good luck, this might all sound a bit drastic, but you can't carry on the way you described.

It's frustrating isn't it when the results come back 'scarily normal' as my GI dr put it to me some months ago! Ok, so if the tests are looking normal, then ...what??!!!!...
I think that's just what happens with this illness, cold comfort, but as my Dr said that sometimes the inflammation just can't be seen or tracked and there's stuff happening at a cellular level that's gonna trigger the trots. Good idea to go back to your original GI dr and get further tests and treatment. Yeah, the colonoscopies are a pain in the, um, backside, but I figure better to be safe and keep tested and checked. Glad you felt you could come here and go 'aaaaaarrrrghh!' :D I'm feelin' a bit like that myself *hugs*
