Pat was given this today for his continuing ear infections/fluid. He had not heard properly for 8 months until last week when his ear drum was cut and fluid removed. Now back to square one! Reading the papers shows SO many side affects, don't use it if you are on insulin, yes, metphormin, yes, prednisone, just off it. Druggist says they have to advise all of this, but............anyone in my DS family aware of this and any problems with it? Please advise. Thanks, Wendy

" Clostridium difficile, commonly called C. difficile, is a bacterium that causes diarrhea and other serious intestinal conditions. You can have clostridium difficile just by taking antibiotic and I took Avelox and got it......but it dosent mean that your going to have it by taking Avelox some poeple has no problem taking it but me it was different maybe because I have Cronhs, and was on Humira at that time so I dont know why I got c-diff, go search on google for c diff and you will see.... " Any antibiotic can kill of the beneficial bacterial in the digestive track letting C-Diff (a bad bacteria) take over. It’s best to eat yoghurt with live active culture while you’re on antibiotics, if you can tolerate it. If you just can’t do yoghurt, the cultures are available in pill form just about anywhere, but for sure at any health food store. "
