" Yes! I have to take more time in deciding what foods to take with me. Take more time to stop and rest, when travailing by car. And ask for a set close to the bathroom if traveling by air. On a personal note: The last time I went to a family members house for thanksgiving, I unintentionally hurt my sister-in-laws feelings, because she had went out of the way to fix a large dinner that I could not eat. She had a problem accepting the fact that everything she fixed was filled with things that I could not possibly eat. I will no longer spend the night with any family member. And will make some excuse not to eat with them… An act of self-preservation on my part! "

" I have had to make sure that wherever we plan to go has sufficient restrooms within close proximity and I always check out where local hospitals are. I used to enjoy remote fishing locations such as backwoods lakes but I'm not comfortable being that far from civilization anymore. This is a plus for my wife and daughter since they'd rather do the beach thing. "

" I ALWAYS have a bag with me. Even if I am just staying the night at a friends house. An extra pair of clothes, imodium, tums, my medicine. Even if I don't need those things it is nice to have them with me as a comfort. Just knowing that I have those things with me makes things less stressful. Wherever I go I make sure that the first thing I do is find out where the bathroom is. That helps also. "

" for years i tried not to let this stupid disease affect my travelling. it finally got the best of me this year- had a trip to ireland and morocco planned WITH a friend. made all the reservations ourselves so hardly anything was refundable. And I landed in the hospital with my UC. ARRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now with all the immunosuppressants I can't even get on a plane.
between shots and enemas that just makes it difficult to go anywhere. and i too purposely avoid going out to dinner, lunch, coffee, happy hour or any other social thing that involves consumables. i hate having people say "are you sure you don't want this enticing, wonderful, delectable, etc. piece of food?" AHH!! YES OF COURSE I DO BUT I CAN'T!!! the next time someone asks me if I want something to eat that I can't have and they do it more than twice I'm seriously considering sharing what happens to me when I eat said unmentionable. I doubt they'll eat it either after hearing those details. "

" I haven't had a vacation since my Dx in 2004. I have traveled for 2 of my 3 children's weddings, but I wouldn't call it a vacation. When I travel I take all of my meds in the original bottle and I bring a list of all of my meds with me. "

" I seem to remember going on something called a "vacation" before I became a small business owner. "
