Okay, Ive been getting lots of emails about this, people are asking me for advice.. what to do, how to start the raw diet, to begin, what to eat, etc. etc.
You cannot rush into this, you cannot start drinking heavy green detoxifyngs juiices. If your going to drink juice, DRink CARROT juice, Some people can tolerate celery, it is also great mixed with carrot, but for me I cannot when I am in a flare.. Celery has a lot of needed nutrients for your digestion, as well as salts needed for your body.. Carrot is GREAT for cleansing and soothing your colon/intestines especially when they are raw and irritated.. So this is my common reply to a person who is wondering how to go about starting this diet and transition to heal there flare. When your in a flair you need to not worry about eating, You need to rest ,your body is trying to heal itself and cleanitself you.. When Im in flares, I stilck to like 3 or 4 foods I drink ALOT of coconut water, prefereablly young thai coconuts. And Lots of water in general. Forget about gaining or loosing weight just REST REST REST, if you can handle bananas, eat bananas, mangos may be a little rough cus they are high detoxifing, losta fibers.. but if they sit well eat mangos too, Lots of papaya, or papaya nectar. try to get as fresh and as ripe as possible. Eat bananas with lots of spots, so they are easier to digest.. breakfast lunch and dinner if you want, eat one or two of those at each meal, eat enough to fill up.. If you want to, for dinner eat some steamed sweet potatoe, or some yams, or carrots. If can handle it to, pleanty of carrot juice is great. basically you need to let your bowels rest and clean, it takes time, lots of patience and dedication to the diet.. but you cant rush it, its taken a long time for us to get sick, now you need to give it time to catch up with itself.. So try eating as little as you can, if you do decide to eat cooked and regular food, avoid ALL DAIRY, all meat, all fats, all grains, ESPECIALLY WHEAT products, gluten, rye, flour, sugar, yeast.. All these things are hard to digest especially forus.. If you do take the prednisone, do whatI suggets, and youll have the best results.. thats what i did, and all my inflammation and bleeding stopped and I have normal blood tests, not lacking in anything and all my anemia is gone too.. GOOGLE paul nison, and david klein, healing crohns and colitis with raw foods. Check out www.rawfoodsupport.com Ask them, there are a bunch of people there like us who have healed and been in remission for YEARS AND YEARS, paul nison started like us, and nots its been 30+ years hes been in remission, after time your going to be able to eat salads and more tastey meals, but for now we just need to rest.. play write back with questions and let me know your progress I will try to help a much as I can.. So to round this up.. Pick a couple SOFT none acidic fruits. I choose, Banana, Mango, and Papaya, or cherimoyas.. Coconut water (as fresh as you can! from the husk/young thai coconuts) coconuts have been used for thousands of years to heal, even put thru IV, there extremely close to our own blood plasma, and has all the enzymes, nutrients etc. our bodies need! so if your going to fast wich is also GREAT for our condition, think about a coconut water fast its not as dangerous, and you wont mess up your electolytes! Ive gone weeks with just coconut water, and SO MUCH energy and felt just normal and great.. Carrot juice, fresh! dont worry about greens yet, they are irritating cus of the fibers to a raw and sensitive colon.. Eat small meals, PREFERABLY with only ONE OR TWO combos, so papaya, and banana is great. Or mango and papaya, but we need to let our bodies rest to cntinue healing.. For dinner, if you wish you are safe to eat steamed carrots, steamed zuccinu (skinless), steamed sweet potatoe or yams etc. SOFT foods =] Dont over eat.. and google proper food combining! AVOID dairy, fats, grains, gluten, rye, Flour, sugar, meats, heavy greens, you dont need those right now.. they will only further irriate our sensitive and raw intestines.. Let your body REST. I'm not wholly convinced that this diet would work. But the controversy about potatos and yams I would like to add my own bit...
Mashed potatos are FANTASTIC for me. So long as I remove the skin and add neither fat nor butter, they fill me up without having to eat much and taste good and they don't hurt "going down." The ONLY reason they were put on a "no list" in the first place is because SOME Colitis patients (not all) cannot handle fiber, or "bulky" foods. So keeping that in mind, DFUC's proposed diet here would likely help a good handle of patients. But, by no means ALL. Some cannot handle the fiber content, but those that can may indeed find healing in these plans. So as it was put, what's the hurt in trying? If you're relatively "okay" with your symptoms, then keep doing what you're doing. If you're in too much pain to live, then give it a try... it can't get much worse, can it?

Yeah I'm on the fence about potatoes!
I might try them again and see what I notice. Thanks for the insight. Have to remember everyone is different and that no diet fits everyone's needs. I'm trying organic/natural Dijon mustard lately. Anyone had any problems with that? I'm not sure if its creating problems or not. (I had it with some cheddar cheese which I also am not sure if I can handle).

dieingfromUC:
This is the ONLY right way for health!! Now I'm on fasting 40 days. Today is 24 day. Before fasting I was on remicade and asacol. I threw all medicines away. I'm fasting on supervision of our best experts for fasting in Slovenia. He said, that he cured a lot of people having ulcerative colitis. Before fast I had problems with constant diarea and urgency. I can't go even in store for food, because I was very scared. Had a lot of bm. 20 during day and 15 during night. Terrible! Remicade somehow put things together, but I still have 8 bm during the day, urgency and blood (less but still present). For first 3 weeks of fasting I experienced a lot of symptoms during fast, fewer, cramping, lot of blood, urgency. This symptoms were much stronger that I had have ever before. Somedays I went to toilet 60X. Much detox. But this symptoms usually disapears in 4 - 5 days. Than I have 2 days comfort, and again new symptoms. Now after 3 weeks things are going under control. I'm much better now, no blood, urgency. Can drink a lot of juices (2 liter). Simply I'm diferent. I have just a little pain on rectal, because of a lots BM and it is still iritated, but all colon is in remission. No blood, no urgency. I'll keep you informed how i progress. My state is changing every day, so I don't know if there be more attacs or not, but for now I progress very good and I feel like newer before. I'm drinking a lot of carrot juice (fresh carrot from garden) and mango juice (fresh prepared). Today I will try coconut water and papaya. I have a big problems with apples (much gas, discomfort), and other fruit. In past I tried a lot of things, to get desesse under control, with minimum or no efect. I tried MMS. After 9 days of taking it, an ambulance drive me to hospital, because I get such pains in muscles that I can't move. Tried aloe vera, fish oil (even large doses), SCD diet (for a while very good results but after mounth I was nearly death), a lot of antifungal medicines .... I wasted a lot of money. And I was just before operation (remove all colon). Was on remicade and work poorly. So I decide to do fast, and will see. I don't want to say I'm cured to fast. For now I'm progressing fantastic. And when I will be totaly health, I will post that. I'm seek of people that shearing info about things that are not real, or there is money behind!!! Gregor, Slovenia
