Okay, Ive been getting lots of emails about this, people are asking me for advice.. what to do, how to start the raw diet, to begin, what to eat, etc. etc.

You cannot rush into this, you cannot start drinking heavy green detoxifyngs juiices. If your going to drink juice, DRink CARROT juice,
Some people can tolerate celery, it is also great mixed with carrot, but for me I cannot when I am in a flare..
Celery has a lot of needed nutrients for your digestion, as well as salts needed for your body..

Carrot is GREAT for cleansing and soothing your colon/intestines especially when they are raw and irritated..

So this is my common reply to a person who is wondering how to go about starting this diet and transition to heal there flare.
When your in a flair you need to not worry about eating,
You need to rest ,your body is trying to heal itself and cleanitself you..

When Im in flares, I stilck to like 3 or 4 foods

I drink ALOT of coconut water, prefereablly young thai coconuts.
And Lots of water in general.

Forget about gaining or loosing weight just REST REST REST,
if you can handle bananas, eat bananas,
mangos may be a little rough cus they are high detoxifing, losta fibers.. but if they sit well eat mangos too, Lots of papaya, or papaya nectar. try to get as fresh and as ripe as possible.
Eat bananas with lots of spots, so they are easier to digest..

breakfast lunch and dinner if you want, eat one or two of those at each meal, eat enough to fill up.. If you want to, for dinner eat some steamed sweet potatoe, or some yams, or carrots.

If can handle it to, pleanty of carrot juice is great.
basically you need to let your bowels rest and clean, it takes time, lots of patience and dedication to the diet.. but you cant rush it, its taken a long time for us to get sick, now you need to give it time to catch up with itself..

So try eating as little as you can, if you do decide to eat cooked and regular food, avoid ALL DAIRY, all meat, all fats, all grains, ESPECIALLY WHEAT products, gluten, rye, flour, sugar, yeast.. All these things are hard to digest especially forus.. If you do take the prednisone, do whatI suggets, and youll have the best results.. thats what i did, and all my inflammation and bleeding stopped and I have normal blood tests, not lacking in anything and all my anemia is gone too..
GOOGLE paul nison, and david klein, healing crohns and colitis with raw foods.

Check out www.rawfoodsupport.com Ask them, there are a bunch of people there like us who have healed and been in remission for YEARS AND YEARS, paul nison started like us, and nots its been 30+ years hes been in remission, after time your going to be able to eat salads and more tastey meals, but for now we just need to rest..

play write back with questions and let me know your progress I will try to help a much as I can..

So to round this up..

Pick a couple SOFT none acidic fruits.

I choose, Banana, Mango, and Papaya, or cherimoyas..

Coconut water (as fresh as you can! from the husk/young thai coconuts)
coconuts have been used for thousands of years to heal, even put thru IV, there extremely close to our own blood plasma, and has all the enzymes, nutrients etc. our bodies need! so if your going to fast wich is also GREAT for our condition, think about a coconut water fast its not as dangerous, and you wont mess up your electolytes!
Ive gone weeks with just coconut water, and SO MUCH energy and felt just normal and great..

Carrot juice, fresh! dont worry about greens yet, they are irritating cus of the fibers to a raw and sensitive colon..

Eat small meals, PREFERABLY with only ONE OR TWO combos,
so papaya, and banana is great.
Or mango and papaya, but we need to let our bodies rest to cntinue healing..

For dinner, if you wish you are safe to eat steamed carrots, steamed zuccinu (skinless), steamed sweet potatoe or yams etc. SOFT foods =]

Dont over eat.. and google proper food combining!

AVOID dairy, fats, grains, gluten, rye, Flour, sugar, meats, heavy greens, you dont need those right now.. they will only further irriate our sensitive and raw intestines.. Let your body REST.

" I've seen your posts on this diet several times on the board and I was a little skeptical about how people in flares are supposed to be able to eat raw fruits and vegetables (I know for me my gut explodes with anything like that and i'm a vegetarian so that pretty much cuts out EVERYTHING for me)... but now that I see how careful you are cautioning people to be with using juice and not over doing it and only taking what you can handle, I applaud your efforts to pass on what works for you AND your discipline with your diet. Well done. "

" Well thank you.. I just believe it or not, understand 100% what it is like to live wit hthis.. I cant go to resturaunts, and I lost my jobs, I can barely explain to my girlfriend or my guy friends what I live with daily.. its "just a stomach" ache to them you know, doctors dont show support, and what they do offer me just mades me worse, and really injures us in the long run.. So regarldess of what some people here may think of me, weather it be Im just 21, I dont know anythingn and my favorite "Go live a little" I have experiences far to much for my age expecially having to deal with this sort of condtion, and I really am determined to share light on the issue with who ever else, if we have to live this for the rest of our lives. what is so bad about taking ONE MONTH out of our life to just TRY and be open minded? Who knows, if I am right, you may want to start and grow into a whole new type of journey to really change your lives, thats how I started.. I tried this about 3 times and I just now really started understand how it works. we just need to listen to our body, and its reaction..

food doeant heal, the body does, we just need to give it the proper tools..

I would say, just try bananas, and papays, and if that doesnt wory RAr, look for the most Ripe ones, softest, (banana should be EXTREMELY spotted or soft, no green) try purees them or making a smoothie out of it.. just dont go crazy cus its a process, and it needs to be done slowly my friends.. its a learning experience.. Just drink lots of coconuts and Im sure you will feel and ese the difference. =] "

" If you have any kind of ethnic food store they sometimes carry coconut water (esp. asian or hispanic specialty grocers). Sometimes smaller grocers carry it too. Might be worth a look before you end up paying S&H on the internet. "

" I know I should try something like this, but I'm 6'1" and I hover around 120-130lbs. I don't think I'd be able to keep up a survivable weight while doing something like this. Is that a valid concern or is this really enough to sustain someone? "

" People have lived off fruit and veggies in raw form longer then any other food ever.
Just eat enough to sustain yourself, I dont understand why weight is such a big concerned, considering the circumstances..
by all means, eat steamed veggies, sweet potatoe yams carrots etc. for dinner, or for lunch if you must.. try it for aw eek, Just listen to your body, and hear and feel what it is telling you.. "

" I'm a little confused, sweet potatoes are on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet illegal list because of the starches they contain.
So are Yams...

You don't seem to have a problem eating these? "

" Honestly, screw the specific carb diet list. She doesnt live with this disease. you need to listen to your body.
Steamed yams, sweet potatoes, carrots, zuccini are very easy to digest, soft, and full of nutrients wich the body can break down quite easily. Google and do some reason, starchs turn to sugar wich are absorbed in the small intestine. YOu need to avoid grains no doubt, they are really hard to digest, but a steamed sweet potatoe is no harm.. but as I said, listen to your body, if you have tried these foods on an empty stomach and they have done you no good, then by all means avoid them. "
