Does anyone have any experience of this drug? I hae started taking it recently and I am not impressed with the experience so far - I am suffering from dizziness on and off and I am also suffering from what I can only describe as a constant fuzzy head and I am nowhere near as on the ball as I normally am.

" Hi, I'm not sure how long you've been on it, but I initially I had no side effects and then when they increased the dosage, I experienced headaches and dizziness and nausea from it for a couple of months. Then the side effects went away.

I just recently went into remission after being on the drug for 6 months. So, for me, it's been great so far. It takes a while for the meds to start working. "

" I used to be on it, but had to go off because of the side effects. It made me really nauseous. I was never even able to get to a theraputic dose. It was very frustrating. I hope you have better results. "

" Hi,
I have been taking it for about 1 and a half years. My dose is on the low end for my weight. I did experience headaches as well and dizziness too before my dose was lowered.
I found that the benefits have outweighed the side effects, though I am worried about the cancer risk increase with this drug.
I wish you all the best..hope you are feeling better soon! "

" I am on 250mg of Imuran and it makes me tired, tired, tired. It takes a while for it to get in your system and working effectively. I have been on it for about a year and I am going into remission!!!!! The disease itself can cause you not to be the same or on the ball like you use to be. Good Luck. "

" I've been taking Azathioprine at 100mg everyday for almost 3 years now. I never did experience side effects, or maybe I have been just didn't notice it lol because I'm also on a ton of predinisone. But it has helped to sort of keep flare ups at bay. "

" I felt nauseous for about a month and all of the side effects went away. I take it right after dinner and that helps. I love it. I'm trying to convince my doctor to let me get off of Remicade and stay on Imuran because I really think the Imuran is working for me. "

" Well, this is the only med that has worked for me. I have to be truthful, I experienced the nausea as well. When I first started it a year ago, I was on 3 pills and I was have intense nausea.

Then, my doc noticed my iron levels were SUPER low, so he tooke me off of it. I've been getting iron infusions to keep it up--this was another 6 or so months.

Now I am on it again. He started me with one pill, now I'm on two. I pill great too. My iron levels are stable and I'm not experiencing any nausea this time around.

I hope it works out for you, I've taken a decent amount of meds and I know it takes time to find one that works for you. "
