Hey eveyrone, I was just talking to my coworker whose mother has suffered from Chrons for over 30 years. She gets treated at Scripps Hospital and her doc recomended that she take Priolec otc. She started with 1 then ended up taking one at night one in the morning and she has seen improvement.

Has anyone tried this?

" Since I was diagnosed in Dec 03 I have been taking an acid reducer. It really helps with the heartburn. I used to take one every other day, then during flare ups it would be every day. Before the surgery I was getting heartburn like crazy and the meds weren't working. Now I still take an acid reducer and haven't had any heartburn at all. I have had several differnt kinds (due to insurance changing coverage) protonix, nexium, prevacid, now i just take an over the counter cheap one thats compared to prilosec. "

" But she is not taking it for acid or GERD. She says that the Prilosec is helping with the bathroom runs, diareah and so on. Plus she is able to eat foods she hasn't in a long time. "

" I have taken all of them, I still have several bottles of different kinds, right now I'm taking over the counter type, it does help with heartburn and the throwing up, I have acid reflux. "

" I take Prilosec for reflux. Used to take Protonix but insurance stopped covering it but now covers generic Prilosec (Omeprazole), go figure!
I have not noticed that it does anything for any of my Crohn's symtoms. I have GERD, Hiatial Hernia and Esophageal spasms on top of the Crohn's. Glad it's helping your friend, it just keeps showing we are all different. "

" Prilosec didn't help me with my Crohn's symptoms, just with the acid reflux. I wish it had! "

" I have newly diagnosed GERD and hiatal hernia- some say the hiatal hernia can come form straining... the gerd, I suspect I've always had- it just worsened secondary to the steroids. It helps with the symptoms related to those two conditions but not my CD... "

" I also have hiatal hernia and nothing helps mine so what I do is watch what I eat. Tried them all and will tell you that they did nothing for my Crohn's. "
