Trying to find the cause(s) of my bad abdominal pain off and on for over 10 years. This time around it is bad, very severe, wondering what tests need to be done. I have questioned candida, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, I am clueless.
Seeing the gastroenterologist tomorrow and need to get to the bottom of this. This time around it is VERY different than any other times I have had pain.
My most common symptoms are:
-nausea
-pain worse in the morning
-moves around, mostly on right side, when before on left mostly
-pain can be burning to strictly throbbing
-only relief I get is with Suboxone, an opiate. Phenergan also helps somewhat. I feel like I have possibly a viral bacteria in my gut?
I had an abdominal ultrasound this morning.
I also itch on my belly skin, and have had 3 laparoscopies for the emdometriosis and wonder if the adhesions have "hooked" onto my bowel? Is that possible?
I am scared and want to know what is going on---ar there certain tests I need to ask my GI doc to do? I was thinking a barioum swallow and barium enema?? Before I go into an EGD scope and/or colonoscopy....
Can somene please help/give suggestions.
Where do I begin to find out the cause of this pain? My bowel movements are kind of mucous-filled, broken apart, light colored, just different symptoms everyday at different times, but mostly pain and nausea.
(SOrry for the TMI, but this is what is going on)

" At this point your best bet is to just get to your doctor appointment and talk all this over with him/her. If you are comfortable and confident with your doctor then whatever is needed to be done will be done. Until then just try not to worry which is easier said then done, I know. I don't think anyone on this site would hazard to play doctor for you as that would be foolish but any of us can relate totally to what you are going through and do care. Try to think good thoughts and just wait and see what the doctor says. God bless. "

" I suggest asking your doc for a colonoscopy and a small bowel series. My symptoms are very similar to yours when I have a flare up. Hope you find out whats wrong and start feeling better soon. "

" Your health problems sound like mine. I have UC and my DR. also did lots of tests. I would follow up with your Dr., eat 4-6 small meals if you can, I use a heating pad on my stomach/intestine area and drink lots of liquids. I get very dehydrated with the diarrhea. Best of luck to you. "

" well what kind of blood tests have you had done? guess I'd prob start there and then i did have the barium enema done( cuz they thought I had diverticulitis), I did have blood work doen for UC/CD and tested negavtive- go figure then I had laparoscopy cuz they were thinking endometriosis, which can attach to the bowel and be very painful, then I had the colonoscopy that confirmed CD and then they did CT scan and small bowel series...I just recently had a complete stool analysis and found out I did have 3 nasty bacterias that cause problems similar to CD

and I like Jean live with a heating pad a lot of the time and rest whenever I can and like she said try and stay hydrated...good luck! "

" well what kind of blood tests does one get done for this condition? You name it, I've had it. I would think the doc has to go inside and look at my colon and gut?
This is a stab in the dark but I am wondering if my 3 laparoscopies have formed scar tissue that is connecting my bowels in my abdomen together causing pain, as well as attaching to my artery to my heart causing the fluttering---could very well be.....now to get a doctor to listen and hear me out on that one!!!!!!!
Thank you all. I didn't go because I felt better today than I have this whole two weeks it has been going on. I started drinking Monavie. Wonder if that has helped at all? But....I am going to reschedule! My heart goes through this fluttering too, I am just noticing a lot of changes like drinking caffeine increases my heart fluttering. I have a high CRP level which scares me, so one of these days I need to start making better choices....before it;s too late, I think there is plaqyue blockage in my arteries, and I get the results of the ultrasound tomorrow. I just took a Librium and a Phenergan...
What is a "small bowel series"? "

" As far as the heart fluttering, I am wondering if you may have a potassium deficiency. I had that last year and my doctor sent me to urgent care. I had an EKG done and was fine but the doctor tested my potassium level and it was low. He gave me supplements and the fluttering stopped! Maybe have that checked as well. "

" OK--that is VERY interesting you said this, because last time I had an electrolyte panel done, my potassium level was low and the doc gave me supplements, I am supposed to continue and have stopped.
How did you know??? I know my cardiologist told me to take magnesium for the fluttering---but I didn't know Potassium would help too? How is that? How does that help the heart fluttering I wonder...
Thank you so much!! How much Potassium do you take? Once a day, twice?
You really just helped me---will try it and see what happens! "

" As the previous posts have said, go see your Doctor and get checked out....

You said:

My most common symptoms are:
-nausea - - - - Make a food diary/journal of what you're eating, and what you notice makes you feel GOOD, and what makes you feel BAD. You might learn some new things that will help you down the road.
-pain worse in the morning - - - Try not to eat too late at night, no greasy foods, fried foods, or heavy foods. Keep it light and simple... maybe a sandwich, soup... or such. Be easy on your stomach at night, and you might not wake up with such pain and discomfort.
-moves around, mostly on right side, when before on left mostly - - - Sounds like gas pain (but I'm sure you would know that). You can try taking some Gas-X to help with this, if it works, great... if not... the above mentioned advice of meals, might help with the 'movement' throughout the night and early mornings.... changing your diet at dinner might help reduce the pain and pressure feelings.
-pain can be burning to strictly throbbing - - - (see above comment)
-only relief I get is with Suboxone, an opiate. Phenergan also helps somewhat. I feel like I have possibly a viral bacteria in my gut? - - - you may have a virus in your gut, if that's the case, you STARVE it... clear fluids, no solids, no dairy... etc.... etc...

The thing that you said that caught my attention was:

"My bowel movements are kind of mucous-filled, broken apart, light colored, just different symptoms everyday at different times, but mostly pain and nausea. "

Mucousy stool is NOT a good sign. Need to get that checked out. Or if you have a 'stand-by' antibiotic that you take during a flare-up (such as Cipro or Flagyll)... then you might consider taking it again... and see if that clears up.

But for the pain and nausea... take it easy on your stomach/intestines by watching what you eat.... monitor what makes you feel good/bad... you might notice a significant change really soon. Don't be scared, we all go through this.... but checking with your Doctor is a MUST.

Good Luck! "

" Thank you so much for the time you took to post and help.
Today the pain was all day. It started out in the upper right, and by the end of the day (after dinner) it has gone down to my pelvic area and rectum area (inside abdomen, not near anus) with a pain that is extrememly 'colicky'. My syptoms differ every hour/day. I made an appt for the gastro Tuesday....My obgyn wants to take a biopsy od my uterus because it is thick he says..
I pray he gives me Cipro or Flagyl. This is just all too odd and is draining me and the quality of my life, tried to go camping this weekend anmd was too ill--almost couldn't even stand up. Tonight I took a Tylenol. "
