Flaxseed oil makes me sick, so does fish oil. I know a lot of people swear by it, but I think there are also folks like me whose systems can't tolerate it. I've tried taking it plain, in capsules, buying the seeds, baking with it, everything and I get sick each time. Not to be a "downer" or anything, just be careful. I'm generally intolerant to any type of fat or oil -- it's my trigger.

In the past, using massive amounts of whole flaxseed (not just the oil, but the seed with the fiber) in baked goods like muffins or cornbread or cake has sometimes helped reduce my pain and help me form solid stools. It could be the mixture of the fiber and wholesome omega-3s or maybe some other good stuff but in the past I anecdotally believe it played a role in some of my previous remissions.
I say go by the flax seed meal instead of the oil or the whole seeds. The seeds cant be digested unless you break the cell wall, and eating just oil by itself not baked into anything can be a bit much. The meal also has the soft fiber, which isnt the bad kind of irritating fiber but the gentle kind of softening yet bulking fiber.
