" I started on 6MP as a 13 year old pediatric UC patient and eventually switched to Imuran- it gave me 10 years of remission and ability to live my life. For me, it was the only miracle drug I ever encountered. It IS scary to read the possible side effects but you have to remember that doctors would not take those risks in prescribing these drugs if they didn't feel the benefits outweighed the negative. Good luck to you. "

" I've been on 6MP for a couple of years now. They tried me on Imuran, but I had a scary allergic reaction. The 6MP has been keeping me well. They had to cut my dosage about six months ago, as my white cell count was lower than they wanted it, but I'm still feeling good. They possible side effects are scary, but I've yet to come across anything used to treat UC or CD that doesn't have nasty consequences. Good luck. "
