" I also heard good things about Lialda before I took it. It was the first medication I used and it actually sent me to the hospital within a week. I developed a very uncomfortable and eventually painful feeling in my upper stomach that reminded me of pancreatitis when I had it. When I had tests done, all my blood work came back fine and I felt better after i switched to Asacol.

With that being said, I have also heard it is the safest medication there is for UC out there right now. My doctor highly recommended it prior to me using it, but it just wasn't for me. I hope this is helpful. "
