So I have been on 40 mg of Prednisone for about 6 weeks, this is my second round of the prednisone since dx... But this time around I have an entire new side effect... I think. I was in the hospital from Jan 11th thru the 16th and was on my period that entire week. I am normally very regular as I take the pill... However this week I have started my period again 2 weeks earlier then scheduled and it is definitely concerning me...
Is this something that I should be worried about, or is it just more fun with roids??? Thank you all for any advise given. I will take all that I can get, I am just happy to talk to people that understand. Posted on 01/30/09, 01:01 am |

I have stopped my peroid all together while on prednisone, if it was that time and I had to be put on the steroids I would stop for months, it happen everytime.

I take Seasonique and I'm to have 4 periods a year. Well, this pill stopped mine. I was on the pred for 6 weeks in the summer and out of the blue (not on the placebo week) I had my period! Shocked the hell out of me as I hadn't had it for a year. I asked all my docs, GI, Gyne, PCP, Rhuemy if the break thru was due to the pred, no one gave me a straight yes or no. All said, "Could be, pred and hormones are unpredictable". Sigh; oh doctors!

hey, i suffer from crohn's too, it would b nice to talk to people who under stand. i was on prednisone for like 2 years on a dose on 40 mg daily as when ever they reduced it mi crohn's would flare up again along with azaprine i was on 125mg daily. but now they but me on a drug called Humia. which touch wood has made so much different ive been on it now for 6 months and it hasnt flared up,
When i was on prednisone mi preiords were a bit all ova the place too, X

Hi, there. I am on Prednisone, Humira shots weekly, and Hyomax....and my periods are very irregular. Seems like it is always a week earlier every month, and I figure at this rate one of these days I'll be on it ALL the time!!! I am sure it is the meds that has me messed up. I am actually wishing for menopause!!! ha!

for me..i started off wid 20mgm of pred and carried on dat for 2 weekz..currently,m on a 5 mgm one-dat seems too less for me,but wen i was on a 20mgm one,i suffered a lott of pain-one of UC and the periods pain...d day i got free,10 dayz after dat,i got again...and it was realli painful :(....but for now,itz goin fne...
my UC wasnt so severe,but wonder hoe it went up by soo much dat i had to actuali start off wid pred....gud luck to all
