Humira

I have been on many drugs ( pentasa, azathioprine, salofalk and remicade) but none of them have worked on my UC, my doctor said that humira is not yet approved for UC but that he wants to try me on it anyway. I was wondering, has anyone been on humira, does it work? what are the side effects?

Thanks !

" I am on Humira for Crohn's Disease, and it has done wonders for me. I had previously been on Remicade for a year, and my body stopped responding to it. My doctor was telling me on my last office visit that they were in the process of trying to get it approved for UC, too. The FDA has approved crohn's for biweekly shots, and I was on that from Nov/2007 until August 25/2008...then my doctor changed me to weekly injections do to a flair up in August and I was in the hospital a week....after I was realeased and went to get my new script filled...found out that the FDA has not approved yet weekly, so my insurance denied my script....But the doctors within 2-1/2 days proved to my insurance why I needed this weekly....and they approved it. I bet your doctor could send something (may take more than one try) to your insurance to get them to approve you for Humira. "

" I have been on Humira since March. I didn't see any improvement until recently. They say it usually takes about six months to really kick in. "
