Just wondering if anyone actually visits this board. My son has positional plagiocephaly, and is currently being treated with a CranioCap. Given the higher incidence of positional plagiocephaly since the back to sleep campaign, I guess I expected this board to be a little more active!

" Yeah, I know what you mean Mel. I've been a member for quite some time but really haven't contributed... I guess that's what most people do. "

" Mel,

I still check the board on this page though I inhabit the blood clot (DVT/PE) side of the house.

My daughter was also born with positional plagiocephaly and wore the Doc Band for 18 Months. Part of the problem we had as parents was the pediatricians at the Naval Hospital (was on active duty at the time) did not feel that our daughters mis-shapen head was of much a concern. It wasn't until the six month point that they listened to us overconcerned parents and realized there was a problem (1 ear was about 1" behind the other). The Doc Band helped immensely though 100% correct couldnt' be obtained (might have if the doctors listened to us sooner). We were referred to Yale Medical Center where their Cranio-Facial physician confirmed our concerns.

The Doc Band didn't bother my daughter (other then the casting of the mold). After it was discontinued she actually missed her helmet which my wife decorated (she went through two different helmets during her treatment). We did have parents give us the evil eye a couple of times. Guess they thought we placed her in that helmet to prevent falling and hurting herself or something (lack of public awareness).

Best of luck to you and your son from a fellow Plagio parent. "
