My angina attacks seems to becoming more often, anytime I do anything
during physical activity such as certain house cleaning, walking my dog or that is he walking me, for get climbing up stairs. Upon rest and with nitro tablet it goes away within 5 to 10 minutes. That's been going on for some time, now I have notice I can feel my heart palpitations pounding in my chest, along with shortness of breath.. This can become very scary and I'm becoming a cough potato for fear of this turning into and full blown heart attack.I was also told that I must continue with walking exercise twice daily, if I do not that the angina attacks will get worst even just sitting around. Anyone else can tell me more about this health problem?.I also have costochondritis which is a form of arthritis at the end of the ribs next to the breast bone, when it gets inflammation of the cartilage it hurts so bad to the point I think its my heart. I've been in the hospital several time from chest pain but it was my arthritis acting up but you can not guess between whats going on only the Dr. can tell the difference..It hurt so bad.. I did not have all the problems until after I had a LAD stent placed into my artery. I have had 4 cardiac cathelinzations, and during one of the procedure I wake up when the stent was being placed into the artery and they had to hold me down until I was put to sleep. The stent had iodine on it and I'm allergic to it and I could feel the iodine burning me. Sorry this is so long but you can read how scared I am, or you may say I'm paranoid. Whatever, it hurts and I stay seated as often as I can. Posted on 11/03/09, 12:11 am |

What is your doctor telling you and what kind of medicine does he have you on. I have had a couple of angina attacks and I know that they are scary. Feels like a heart attack (which I did have shortly after bypass surgery). When it comes to the heart, this is serious. Do you smoke? Suffer from emphysema? COPD? I was awake during all my angiograms/cathelinzations. Surprised to hear you weren't. One of them took almost 5 hours. Good luck and see your doctor. Only he can direct you correctly.

Rebeka56,
I'm going to be quick and not waste your time. I had a Quintuple By pass June 25 2009. In January, like yourself I noticed a little tightness in my chest when I would bend over to put the leash on my dog. It would go away on it's own within five minutes or so. This particular day my wife insisted I go to the ER and get it checked out. I did and long story short,I was told I was having a major heart attack. I did'nt feel a thing. They proceded to put a medicated stent in my artery. I was awake the entire three and a half hours. They said I needed another stent within ninety days. The Plavix was driving me nuts. I've used alternative meds and practiced Martial and mixed martial arts for over thirty five years. June 25th 09 I went in for a second stent and they told me after another three and one half hours they did'nt do anything. They said I needed a Quintuple by pass. The first stent was supposed to have cleared up a 99% blockage. The second was an 80% blockage. I was told by my Surgeon who did the by pass that the reason was because my immune system was too healthy for the first stent and was being rejected and covered up. In other words I was too healthy for a stent. I was advised to find another cardiologist. I found that to be extremely rare for one Dr to recommend another. My surgeon and myself both had a lot in common being athletic. He runs in the Boston Marathon. I think he's around 58 or so. I'm 68 myself. I'm off of the Plavix,Thank God!! I just graduated from the cardio rehab exercise program at the hospital. Now i exercise everyday for at least an hour. I also went to a Muscle Strenght Clinc which is a massage and stretching program. After the first session of ninety minutes I was completely relieved of all pain for the first time since my surgery. Praise the Lord. I didn't feel like I wanted to go on if this was the way I was going to feel the rest of my life. May God Bless You and Your Family! This is wearing on them as much as it's wearing you down. Doug

Happy2, and Doug, I have been smoke free for 9 years after smoking 33 years of my life. I do have and mild case of COPD and I do not take anything for it. My angina attacks which I do have very often 2 to 3 times daily.. I only take Nitro pills for my angina attacks, I was also on a patch, I was taken off because the patch would not stay in place. I also take Diovan and aspirin for my blood pressure. My heart Dr. said that I would just have to learn to deal with it, and if it I gets to hurting to bad go to ER. Yes! I was put to sleep on all my cathelizations. The first time they called code blue where I was, my family told me which scared them to death and I never knew any thing. During another time I woke up during the middle of the canalization and afterward I woke up in ICU..Its so odd know one else has been put to sleep, maybe because I'm more sensitive to medications..
I would like to know if you heard any music playing when you went into the surgery room while the staff was getting things ready and waiting for the heart Dr.?? This last time I heard music playing the first song was "lady in Red," and before being put under I heard the song "Save the last dance for me," This seems weired I know but its all true. I know longer go to that heart Dr. any more, I have a new heart Dr. that's closer to home instead of 40 miles away...
