Ok im sick of being unwell and doctors not giving a shit (which is most doctors for me where i live).
Im mid 30s tallish and 25kg over my ideal weight (although i only look 10 or so) I have a slightly auto immune thyroid. Recently diagnosed with sleep apnea (30AHI) I have reflux probs. I was until very recently a bunge drinker all my life and very light social smoker. Now the prob. I get short of breath. Sometimes just standing will do it. Sometimes even nothing. I also find it very hard to exhale on CPAP. Im always tired, always. So its likely Im on the verge of a heart attack? Posted on 09/08/09, 06:09 am |

I forgot to add I think I have bad sinus as I always have pain my cheeks, upper teeth and nose and can never breath more than 30% estimated in capacity through my nose.
Im worried and i tell this all to the docs and they never find the prob. They really are hopeless the GPs where i live. And I pay them money.

Sorry bout your situation -- hope you get better soon. You may want to find a new doctor as soon as possible. Get a referral from someone you trust if necessary. Don't be afraid to make the change -- it may save your life.

when I started having shortness of breath a few years ago, I was exhausted from having to yawn so much to get in more air. The dr. did an echocardiogram and when it proved to be ok, he ordered a pulmonary function test and it picked up the problem of slight obstructive airway disease which improved with an inhaler. It might be wise for you to have the PFT at this point....good luck!

My shortness of breath reappeared, this time being due to a heart abnormality. I urge you to eliminate the pulmonary with a pft test, a cardiac problem with a cardiac catherization: then complete blood work to see if your major organs are functioning ok. I sincerely hope it proves to be nothing more than a sinus problem for you, even though even that can be quite dehabilitating at times!

Sorry to hear of your problems. Did you by any chance start a new medication around the time you noticed shortness of breath?
I think you should see an internest not a GP for what is going on or specialist for your heartand see if he suggests a heart cath. Have you had your mitral valve checked? This is an easy test and seems to be a culprit to many who are extremely tired and have heart problems. Worth a try.
