Anyone have a heart attack, like me, that is NOT taking meds? My cardiologist wants me on mine for the rest of my life. I am striving to go off all of them (reason? for one google Dr. Dean Ornish).

Is there anyone that follows his suggested way of living or has chosen not to be on meds?

Thanks

" I Used to live by what he said. I never have had a heart attack but always had chest pains for years. Which is why I started taking Q-jel which is like coQ10 but better I think. My Doc never believed in anything I did either but he was always amazed at my blood tests. Having a good Doc is important and my cardio is the best I think. Even though he rolled his eyes at everything I tried.Lol I am still here...
I have stents now and I think pretty much is an off shoot of the diabetes even though I wasn't heavy.
Not sure if you will get off your meds, depends on the damage you have had to your heart I think.
I am the only one in my family that hasn't had a heart attack. But having the pain was almost as bad I think.
I follow Sugar Busters now and didn't take meds for diabetes till two years ago when I couldn't walk due to bad hips with arthritis. Walking is wonderful for you and your heart and BP and diabetes. Once I get my other hip done I hope to be normal again and walk if it goes as well as the first hip did. "

" I'm on the meds now, but my goal is to be able to reduce them. I too did not have a heart attack, but congestive heart failure and a stent. I no my eating habits along with sedentary lifestyle plus STRESS caused my heart problems and kidney problems. My kidney doc is amazed at how I have turned around my kidney problems with diet and exercise. I see nothing wrong with you following his diet and lifestyle and see where it goes. Again, you have to look at the extent of the damage to your heart. I read a brief portion of his website and coronary disease is still different than actual damage to the heart. Good luck with your efforts. I have been able to reduce some of the meds I take in a year now. "
