" I had 5x bypass surgery in April 2003. I was put on Plavix at that time. In May 2003 I suffered a heart attack because two of the bypasses failed and reclogged. I was also having problems in my legs which were 100% (right leg) and 95% (left leg) blocked. I had 2 stents put in my legs. These were the old type without drugs in them. In 2004 I had an angina attack and ended up with 3 more stents in my heart. These were the new type with the drugs in them. One of my primary doctors at the VA wanted to stop my Plavix. He said something about being on them too long and that there were side effects. My cardiologist told me that so long as I suffered from vascular cardio disease I would be on Plavix (like for rest of my life).

Now Plavix seems to be working but like any drug for the heart, diet and exercise are necessary. I am still alive and still kicking. "
