Hi- I have my test scheduled next Wed. I'm a bit nervous since the scheduler told me that after they inject the isotope, that I will have pain as if I were having a heart attack. Is this true? Can anybody talk to me about their experience?

I will not be doing a treadmill or bike since I have an ankle injury.

Please answer- I'm a bit scared and normally tests don't bother me at all

" yes unfortunetly youll have some feeling like a heart attack since it works the heart fast i got dizzy and nearly passed out but yes you will have that feeling if they do xray they inject this stuff in then when you do the stress test it opens the arteries and speeds up the heart then you get an xray and it will show if you have any blockage and if so how much if they order a catherization done it sounds more scary than the actual process that will show for sure any blockage but only not moving the leg for about 8 hrs is a pain but hope fully youll be ok "

" I agree with what dennist says. It will feel like a tightness in your chest. Nothing to be afraid about though. The doctor is right there to stop if you get too uncomfortable. They have a drug they can give you that brings your heart back to normal in seconds. I had problems with this procedure once. They gave me this drug and within two minutes I was OK. (Ended up with three stents after that test.)

The angiogram dennist is talking about takes a long time to do (4 hours usually)....they now have a clamp device to use and usually for about 4 hours. Just have to take it real easy afterwards. "
