Hi there! Im 14 years old. Although I wasnt born with a congenital heart condition, I am a teenager living with an aqquired heart disease, so posting in the adult's forum seems abit uncomfortable for me. I've had hypertension for a few years now. My dr. decided to give me meds a few months ago.(beta-blockers). Over the summer, I quickly developed left ventricular hypertrophy(thickening/enlargement of the left ventricke. I also have mild mitral valve regurgiation and have had cardiac arrhythmias since the age of 11 or 10.
So was it my dr. error to wait that long to give me meds and becuase of that i developed the thickened left ventricle? Ive heard from others that this thickened left vnetricle is a potantially life-threatning complication from high blood pressure, is that true? Any advie, comments would be great! Thanks. I have the same condition and am in the process of obtaining more information on this disorder. It doesn't seem to be a very prevalent conditon.
