Saturday, June 7, 2008 | An Inspiring story

I had counseling yesterday and learned a lot as usual.  Work was very stressful this week because of clients at the shelter plotting against us staff by writing out lists to bring at the Sunday meeting.  Thankfully, my supervisor is retaliating by doing room checks and/or canceling the Sunday meeting.  We hope to get rid of the bad ones there through this approach, and to demonstra...

  • Just got in!

Saturday, September 20, 2008 | An Inspiring story

Ok, so we just got back from the childrens hospital where Audrey had her heart cath and lung biopsy. Things could not have been better really. I mean, I wish she didn't have to go through it, but I cant believe what a little trooper she is.
Results from the heart cath showed that the pressures in her heart are down ALOT since her cath in July. Almost by half! One of the particular pressures in...

Tuesday, November 4, 2008 | An Inspiring story

I think we can all agree tonight is a historic night. Regardless of how you feel about Obama I hope we are all inspired by the amazing turnout and the emotional investment in this election we have never seen before.
Today I was doing rounds at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. It is common to have many folks hanging out in the waiting rooms outside of the surgical ICU waiting for the "5 ...

  • Completed my first 5K walk

Sunday, April 26, 2009 | An Inspiring story

Today I participated in the 5K portion of the Vancouver Discovery Walk. The path winded through downtown vancouver near the Farmer's Market and continued on along the Columbia River and looped back ending at the Hilton Hotel.
I am so excited and proud of myself for this accomplishment. 5K is 3.1 miles. I got a medal for completing the walk and it is so pretty!
I ended up parking on the wrong ...

Friday, June 19, 2009 | An Inspiring story

Well, this Alcoholic/Stoner made it one whole day (so far) without smoking Marijuana. AND...I am not sleeping well at all, which I know could be helped with weed, but I won't do it. I have to give it up, as it does me more harm than good these days.
I chatted with my co-quitter a few times yesterday and they are strong in their conviction to quit as well.  Feels good to be TOTALLY sober f...
