Just had to share this good news. While in the infusion room the other day I was placed next to a gentleman I had never seen before. We got to talking, and he said he was diagnosed with Stage IV colorectal 7 years ago, mets to liver and lungs. The best odds he was given for his particular case were between 10-12 months. It is now 7 years (and several surgeries and treatments later) and he has just bought his lift tickets for another skiing season in New Hampshire --- for the 3rd year in a row! He looked terrific. Goes out on his boat fishing regularly , he told me. SO--- I guess what I need to remember is just to never, ever, ever give up.

Thanks CC for reminding us that we are not statistics we are individuals. Lovely to hear stories of people surviving.

despite the fact that one way or another I have surgery of some form coming up and it means that I can't probably teach this year, I have renewed my membership to ski instructors association so that I can teach next season when I've recovered from the surgery.
Hopefully it will be at what I call my home resort Sunday River in Maine.

What a nice story! Have you heard of Suzanne Lindley? She is a 10 year Stage 4 survivor who was originally given just a few months to live -
http://www.canceradvocacy.org/comm... There are many stories of hope out there. I am a 13 year survivor of Stage 3 ovarian cancer which is as deadly as Stage 4 colon cancer. I just reconnected with a woman I met several years ago, who is also a Stage 3 survivor. When I met her she was very pessimistic. She says I told her it took five years to start feeling like your old self again and, sure enough, at five years, she started feeling the rush of hope and joy. I don't know if it really takes five years (and don't even remember telling her that) but she is now an 8 year survivor and a believer. I think you really know you have gotten there when stories about people who beat the odds don't surprise you. Love & hope to all of you!
