Need to lose weight post chemo

I've been off chemo for 41 days now and have managed to lose 2 lbs. I'd gained 9lbs during chemo, probably from force feeding myself loads of foods high in potassium.

I don't have the energy yet for aerobics or any strenuous exercise and diet alone doesn't seem to be doing a darn thing.

Anyone else wanting to lose a few pounds post chemo? What if we post everything we ate each day and act as each others accountability partners?

My name is Diane and I want to lose 10 lbs.

" Hey girl, back in my post c. days I was almost always thin and healthy. I ate organic as much as possible -mostly veggies & fruit, nuts, seeds, whole grain bread & cereal. I just hardly ever touched sugar products (candy, cake, anything with white flour, white rice, white pasta) If it wasn't something God made I didn't eat it, I'm pretty sure He didn't make cool whip. And I always exercised. This is gonna be my plan when I get back to somewhat normal, (haha) which should be in about a month (I guess) I had lost weight during surgery (how much does and entire colon weigh?) and during chemo, I ate a lot during chemo but still lost some. So actually I'm in a good place now, BUT I would love to keep track of all the stuff I eat and do and would love to be accountable to you and you to me. lemme know what you think. I wanna be healthy !!!!!! "

" why don't you set your own group up on spark people?, not sure if it will let you see what each other eat but I'm pretty sure it will keep track of all the calories and the various different vitamins and food groups. "

" I understand MPNC! I had to eat loads of potatoes and other foods high in potassium and that just packed on the pounds.

Mark, I thought that said 'Spank' people. LOLOL "

" Hey ya all, How will we go about doing this, should we set up a specific "topic" entry or just keep this thread going.
I won't be giving this 100% of me yet cause I'm still sick from last chemo, I'm in the crazy eating phase (did any of you have that) and my white count will go down probably next week for a few days so I hafta watch what I eat then. BUT I'm on my way (first phase) of eating good food and walking more. I figure by the end of Oct. I will be full on. Diane & Margot, you two can start right now and I will catch up. Any Ideas, suggestions ???? "

" I bought 2 books from Amazon. Sneaky chef and Deceptively Delicious. Both books for moms with kids hating vegetables. You include veggies in recipies and they are invisible to the kid. the nutrition information is very good in Sneaky chef. I picked low sugar recipies loaded with good stuff and cook them for my whole family. "

" Let's just post on this thread. The main idea is to make ourselves more aware of everything that goes in our month because we're keeping track to share here.

Russian, my family loves veggies! We generally eat more veggies than meats.

GG, do your best to eat healthy and take your time. I'm 42 days from my last disconnect and my problem is wanting to eat anything/ everything hubby or Nick eat. Jim is a big junk food eater!

Okay... I spent five hours at a church event where junk was served so I ate when I got home. Here's my full list for today. Not as complete as it should be, but the church event cut into our day.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
9/26 Diane 138 lbs (5'2")
Raisin Bran
Orange Juice
Coffee w/ sugar and low fat milk
1/2 ham sandwich on whole wheat bread
Sweet Tea
Tuna on Romaine and Radicchio lettuce
1/2 Cucumber
Sweet Tea
" Besides just weight issues, I think to keep it relevant to this issue...
perhaps we can talk about what foods effect our healing and digestion and energy. I think we have a special issue with food, than just weight gain or loss : )
I am back adding salad and cheese... so far so good. 5 weeks from my last dose. But, I still have pain in my abdomen, I fear it is the blockage? So, tonight some soft foods and lots of liquids... adding raw food in small doses. Trying to keep it around 1000 calories. Using olive oil and coconut oil for cooking veggies. "
" I'm not doing too good on the food thing yet, almost everything makes my stomach go crazy. But I know I will get better each day. I've walked twice today, short walks is all I can do so far. I ate cereal, and a yogurt & fruit smoothy, some soup (chicken veggie) for lunch and a bunch of junk for dinner. I won't start back on fresh foods for another week or so (cause my white count will dip too low next week) Then I'll be good to go. I will add weight lifting to my walking. Gonna wear a pedometer to track my steps, hope to get to 10,000 some day. I will try to stay at 1000 calories also, I also use olive and coconut oil and will do as much organic as possible. Will try to drink lots of water also.
Lets keep up the encouragement for each other. Diane sounds like she had a great food day, I look forward to that day. Take care. "
