Yesterday was a long day. Dr had set me up for scans and blood work before my Chemo. Two weeks ago when I had Chemo my liver #'s were off so he set me up for scans of my chest, abdomen and pelvis. I have been pretty stressed just worrying about scan's for the last two weeks. I'm happy to report all were clear. Hooray!! My platelets are still low so I'm done with Eloxatin. I had 5 treatments so hope that will do the job. My white count was up so no shot. That was good,I did not like the shot!! :( Had #7 5 to go!!!! If #8 is on schdule then I will head for the lake on the 19th for a week!! I need some home time!

" I asked my Oncologist that same question before my lung surgery last October, and his reply was no. It just takes time. Unless one has a platelets transfusion. That's what my thorasic surgeon thought they'd have to do because my numbers were so low. Numbers were at 84 several days before surgery. I needed to be at least 99 or above for my blood to clot. We and our church prayed heavily on this. Ironically the day before surgery, I had blood drawn again to see where my numbers stood and they had gone up to 115 !!!
So my answer is: good prayers, and you have many from me :) "

" Thanks for the prayers!! :) I guess I am disappointed that I cannot have the 12 treatments of Eloxatin. Not that I liked it just know it is a good cancer killing drug!!Good news is I have no Neuropathy just doing the 5-FU. "

" Great news on your scans! I wouldn t say JUST to 5FU, it was the only thing around for 40 years and I know a whole lot of people coming out of the woodwork telling me that they did 5FU 10,15 years ago and they are doing great.

So... We both had the platins and will finish up with the 5Fu in my case the xeloda and hope for the best..

" Good stuff sunn. I got delayed a few treatments due to low platelets too, and was told that they just needed time. And they improve overnight sometimes. Have a good weekend over there. :} "

" That's GREAT news, Sunny! Hope you can head to the lake very soon.

My liver #'s jumped up and down for a while at the beginning of chemo until I began having gallbladder attacks and got that removed. They've been 'perfect' ever since.

Be sure to avoid any aspirin or other platelet killers. I believe it takes 10 days from when you take an aspirin or other blood thinning type med for the platelets to be restored. Of course, God knit you together and HIS mighty healing power can cut that down to a split second!

I'll be praying here, too! Our God is AWESOME! "
