Discussion:
CA 19.9

Hi everyone.

I have undergone hemicolectomy eight months ago, followed by Chemo Oxaliplatin + Xeloda which I terminated 1 month ago.

My CA 19.9 post surgery was 40 (regular should be below 38),

after Chemo treatment and a colonoscopy, it went up to 64.

Does anyone know if chemo or colonoscopy elevates CA 19.9?

Thanks.

" Hi Kate,

Thank you very much for your kind support. I have visited my oncologist today, and he advised me that tumor markers give a false reading after colonoscopy. I have to redo them in a few days and hope they will be better. "

" Good news on that , I personally don't pay much attention to the tumor markers, mine were below normal before my surgery when I had a 3 cm cancerous tumor in me. "
