" Hi PS writer- You are already over one month after the surgury. It is quite sufficient time to feel well. Was it only a Sigmoid part of colon resected or some part of a descending colon ? I had almost 8-10 " of descending colon resected and after 6 days in hospital I was discharged. The staple were remowed in ten days and I had to be very careful when taking a shower or wearing something to protect my healing inscision 8" long. You have to be aware that your BM will change dramatically so you have maintained a proper diet. Lots of water. If you feel some pain when you getting out of bed, try to roll on you side, otherwise you put pressure on you abb muscles which are pretty tender even after one month of the surgery.
I wish you a speedy recovery. You are so lucky to be cancer free. "

" I wonder why the Sigmoid was removed ? I f they were polyp /s/ , they should be removed during the colonoscopy, and pathology test should be performed. If the pathology test didn't show any metastases to the other organs, the removal of Sigmoid colon in that particular circumstance where there was no cancer is very puzzling. I would ask my doctor, why I had a surgery if the biopsy didnt show any spread to distant organs. "

" Hi Libra 1313

The reason for taking my Sigmoid colon was because it was so damaged from 'Diverticulitis'.........which I have had Diverticuloses for 10 years & several attacks of Diverticulitis over the years....they took 25" so 2 feet total.....my Gasteroglogist couldnt even get the tube up in my Sigmoid colon when he gave me a Colonoscopy in November 2011...........I got an infection 5 days after surgery, while I was still in the hospital.....then they begin to pump me with antibiotics in IV.....

when I came home after 12 days..........I was alone and had to cook, wash dishes, do laundry, on my own........I then got a bladder infection, and have been back on antibiotics again..........I have lost 18 pounds.... within .2 weeks after the surgery.........I am eating good, just not a lot......but drinking lots & lots of fluids, especially water,,,,,,,,,,

,I 'always' do my Homework on everything, and had I not had this surgery.......I would have eventually had to wear a bag for the rest of my life,,,,,,,,So I didnt have much choice, but to get this surgery........by the time the average Amercian is 60 'They' will have Diverticuloses, because of our American diet...........'They' also said it is 'not' heriditary....which I 'DO NOT' agree with......

And Yes! I am very "Blessed' that I did not have Cancer, but I feel that, I have had enough to go through in my lifetime.......(That God wasnt go to put cancer on me too) READ MY PROFILE.......

Thank you for replying and may 'we' both Stay healthy forever ~~~ "
