has anyone else experienced yeast infection of the mouth and exophagus plus mouth sores has a chemo side affect? Please share what helpd you most. I am unable to eat and am barely sleeping due to these things. I am taking a pill for the yeast that helps but not fast enought for my liking. For the mouts sores I am using prevention mouthwash and also rinsing with baking soda. Is there something better?

My esophagus actuallygoes into spasums from this yeast thing. It is horrible. Anything someone else has tried that worked well is of value to me. Thanks.

" Ouch. No fun. I had thrush right after surgery, which responded to meds. Other than that, the typical mouth sores/sore throat that goes along with the treatment can be handled with the baking soda/salt rinse several times a day, plus they have a "magic mouthwash" they can prescribe for you. Lidocaine + benedryl + something else. Sort of a swish and swallow thing. Hope you feel better soon! "

" Scobb - I didn't have chemo for cc, and my chemo for another cancer 13 years ago did not cause mouth sores or yeast infections, but some chemos do. I wonder if you haven't gotten a response yet because the standard chemos for CRC don't - I know you are getting something different. I remember back in my days of getting chemo I met people who got terrible mouth sores & thrush, and there were different things they could take. But that was years ago, and I don't remember what they took. It's possible they have new & better things now. You really need to talk to your onoclogist or oncology nurse.
